Sanskrita.org is a project maintained voluntarily by collaborators all over the world. The idea for the project arose in 2007 when we realized there was no Sanskrit-Spanish dictionary, and wanted to provide students who did not speak English an option to study Sanskrit using a dictionary.
The Monier-Williams dictionary includes almost 55.000 web pages with a main entry in each page and the compounds words that derive from it listed below. We have deemed it the best work to translate and are grateful to the University of Cologne (Universität zu Köln) and to Mr. R. Mahoney for their work in producing a digital version of the dictionary.
Anyone can use the dictionary, but only registered collaborators may translate. We want to ensure that a high level of translations is kept and we ask collaborators to follow the steps we have established in order to ensure a clear and neat process which includes revisions, corrections, etc.
