m. a protector, patron, possessor, owner, lord ( often ifc., esp. in names of gods and men, e.g. goviṅda-, jagan- etc.

but also mf[ ā ] n. possessed of occupied by, furnished with , cf. sa- )

a husband ( esp. in voc. ) cf. MBh. cf. Kāv. etc.

a rope passed through the nose of a draft ox cf. L.
