mfn. seeing with the eyes, observing, witnessing

an eye-witness, witness ( in law ) of or to ( gen., loc., or comp. ) Gaut. Mn. MBh. etc.

m. ( in phil. ) the Ego or subject ( as opp. to the object or to that which is external to the mind, AṣṭāvS. ; sâkṣi-mātra ).
