 vāñch [ vAJch ]


( cf. √ van ), cl. 1. P. ( Dhātup. vii, 28 ) vāñchati ( occurring only in forms from the present stem, and in pr. p. Pass. vāñchyamāna [ Kathās. ] ; but accord. to Gr. also pf. vavāñcha ; aor. avāñchīt ; fut. vāñchita, vañchiṣyati etc. ), to desire, wish, ask for, strive after, pursue, RV. etc.
